You will need:
- A small flat-headed screwdriver.
- A small cross-head screwdriver.
- A softer plastic ‘easing’ tool, like a guitar plectrum.
- Super glue.

Before you start, take off the battery cover and the batteries and place them to one side.

Firstly, you need to snap off the skirt (that’s the outer ring) on the bottom of the mouse. It is very lightly glued on and should snap off without too much effort. It isn’t possible to get into the mouse without doing this, and we will glue the skirt back on when we are done.

I found the best way to do this is to hold the mouse in the ‘click’ position and using a small flat-headed screwdriver (or something similar made of plastic) inserted below the side button, ease the skirt up until you hear a snapping noise.

Repeat on the other side and then, using the easing tool, work around the skirt until it separates completely.
